"Flower of Scotland"

"Although Scotland is only half the size of England, and was slower in taking the breed to its heart, there has been a "popularity explosion" during the last few years, with Spinoni owners spread over the length and breadth of the entire country.

Spinoni are to be found in the far North, the rugged, beautiful and remote coastal area of Caithness in Sutherland, the picturesque and sparsely populated Argyll in the West, the busy old fishing centre of Peterhead on the East coast, all along the lush and fertile Border region between England and Scotland, and in many and varied places in between.

In fact, Spinoni are like Scotland itself........rugged, hardy, and immensely beautiful!"

Scottish Spinoni Facts

"In the early eighties, Miss Moreen Donechy of Kirrimuir became the first person to exhibit the Italian Spinone in Scotland, competing in Not Separately Classified.  Breed classes were not scheduled until the end of the decade, by which time, Miss Donechy had bred her one and only litter of Spinoni, and so began the emergence of the breed in Scotland.

Miss Donechy is a neighbour of Her Majesty The Queen Mother, living just a short distance from her Scottish home, Glamis Castle. "
