"Wynsett Steady Under Fire at Baillieston",
bred by Linda Collins and
owned by Ann Craig of Kilmarnock.
Sadly, he died at the end of February, 2000 aged 8 years

Scottish Spinoni Facts
There are twelve breeds of dogs native to Scotland.

In gundogs ... the Golden Retriever was developed in the late 1800s by crossing a light-coloured Flatcoated Retriever with the now  extinct Tweed Water Spaniel, and was first exhibited in 1908. Gina.jpg (19392 bytes)

The attractive Dandie Dinmont Terrier with its large round dark-hazel eyes was named after a character in Sir Walter Scott's novel, Guy Mannering.

"Time for bed"
The long haired Skye Terrier is named after its Scottish Hebridean island of origin, originating in the 1600s.
There is one native hound, the gentle and graceful Scottish Deerhound, whose recorded history begins in the Middle Ages, when Scottish chieftains used it for hunting. JakeT.jpg (23786 bytes)

"Big Hugs"
In the pastoral or herding group, the Border collie, although originating in the 1700s, was not given its present name until 1915. It was used by shepherds in the hilly Scottish border country.

"Best Pals"
The famous "Lassie" dog, the Rough Collie, or Scottish Collie,  was originally used to herd sheep, but is more commonly a companion in these times.
The Cairn Terrier occasionally produced white puppies, which were put down. The Malcolm family, of Scotland, selectively bred these white dogs, producing a breed easily visible on the Scottish moors, and thus, we have the West Highland White Terrier. Robbie.jpg (20424 bytes)

Its close relative, the Smooth Collie, is not as popular as the Rough, and is rare outside the United Kingdom
